FAQ — Authority Home Appliance

Question 1

What days and times do you work?

Accepted Answer

Monday through Friday. You pick a 3-hour arrival window between 8 AM and 4 PM, and we give you a narrower arrival time the morning of service.

Question 2

Is my appointment booked as soon as I submit the form?

Accepted Answer

Online bookings are requests. We review each one and send a confirmation email. Your appointment is set once you receive it.

Question 3

Can you come today?

Accepted Answer

Often, yes. A priority same-day call is $279, and $129 of it is fully credited to the final quoted and approved repair cost. Call (805) 754-7993 to check today’s availability.

Question 4

Where do I find my model number?

Accepted Answer

Usually on a tag inside the door, on the frame or under the lid. Each appliance guide shows exactly where to look. Booking with your model number lets us bring the right parts.

Question 5

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Accepted Answer

No charge with at least 24 hours’ notice. Late cancellations or missed appointments may be charged.

Question 6

How much is a diagnosis?

Accepted Answer

A standard diagnosis is $129, and it’s fully credited to the final quoted and approved repair cost.

Question 7

Do you charge by the hour?

Accepted Answer

Never. Labor is a flat rate per appliance based on the repair, so a stubborn job doesn’t cost you more. See the full rate schedule on our Cost page.

Question 8

What if I decide not to repair it?

Accepted Answer

You pay only the $129 diagnosis. No pressure and no extra fees.

Question 9

What if a part has to be ordered?

Accepted Answer

Parts are quoted and approved by you before we order. Your quote covers the complete repair, and the final quoted repair is billed upon completion.

Question 10

Is there sales tax?

Accepted Answer

California sales tax applies to parts only, not labor.

Question 11

How can I pay?

Accepted Answer

Credit and debit cards (processed securely through Square), cash, check, Zelle and Venmo.

Question 12

What brands do you work on?

Accepted Answer

All of them. From your Amana all the way to that ZLINE range.

Question 13

Will you fix it on the first visit?

Accepted Answer

We carry common parts on the truck, so many repairs are finished the same day. If a part needs ordering, we schedule the return as soon as it arrives.

Question 14

Can I buy my own part online and have you install it?

Accepted Answer

No. We source every part so we can stand behind the repair. Online parts can be counterfeit, the wrong revision or already damaged.

Question 15

Do you install appliances too?

Accepted Answer

Yes: dishwashers, over-the-range microwaves, gas range hookups and haul-away of the old unit. Prices are on our Cost page.

Question 16

What warranty do I get?

Accepted Answer

90 days on labor for every repair, plus the manufacturer’s warranty on parts we install. We handle parts claims for you.

Question 17

What if your diagnosis was wrong?

Accepted Answer

You don’t pay for it. If a part we replaced on our diagnosis doesn’t fix the problem, you’re not charged for that part or its labor.

Question 18

Do you work with home warranty companies?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We’re an authorized servicer for Choice Home Warranty, with more providers coming. Open your claim with your provider and ask for Authority Home Appliance.

Question 19

Where do you work?

Accepted Answer

The coast from Goleta to Malibu, including Santa Barbara, Montecito, Ventura, Oxnard, Camarillo, Thousand Oaks and Calabasas.

Question 20

Is there a travel charge?

Accepted Answer

No. Same pricing anywhere in our service area.

Question 21

Not sure if you’re covered?

Accepted Answer

Call (805) 754-7993 and we’ll get you scheduled.

Question 22

Is my appliance worth fixing?

Accepted Answer

If the total repair cost runs more than roughly half the cost of a comparable new appliance, we tell you in writing so you can decide with the full picture.

Question 23

Do you sell appliances?

Accepted Answer

Not at this time. We’re happy to give an honest opinion on what to look for in a replacement.
